ACRA: Telecom market’s volume rises 2% to 1.79 tln rbl in 2020

MOSCOW, Jan 20 (PRIME) -- The Russian telecom market increased by 2% in 2020 to 1.79 trillion rubles, the Analytical Credit Rating Agency (ACRA) said on Wednesday.

The market’s average annual growth will be comparable to inflation of some 4% a year in 2021–2024. The telecom sector was among the industries the least impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

“The coronavirus hurt the mobile segment, but contributed to growth of broadband revenue. Besides, the pandemic did not cut capital expenditures of the key industry players significantly and did not worsen their creditworthiness,” the agency said.

The operators’ margin will remain at a high 33% in the coming years and will depend largely on whether the companies will shift rising operating and capital expenditures to the shoulders of the end users.
